- Sport: Olympic Snowboarding
- Nation: Switzerland
- DOB: January 24, 1982
- Career Highlights: Francon just missed out on the four-woman final in the inaugural snowboardcross event at the 2006 Turin Games, but she won
her last heat to earn a respectable fifth-place overall finish. She has also finished between fourth and seventh five times
in World Cup events this winter, but the veteran has also proven she can reach the podium in a big-time event, doing so 10
times on the World Cup circuit throughout her career - including a win in Austria in 2006. Her best finish, however, may be
a bronze medal at the 2009 world championships in Korea, where she beat out top contenders Maelle Ricker and Sandra Frei.
Francon and Frei are two members of a prestigious Swiss snowboarding contingent that won three golds and a silver (men and
women) in 2006, including first place in the women’s snowboardcross competition claimed by Tanja Frieden. That spot may be
tough to get with American star Lindsey Jacobellis looking for redemption in Vancouver, but Francon is certainly a threat
to medal on Cypress Mountain.
