- Sport: Olympic Snowboarding
- Nation: Switzerland
- DOB: February 5, 1976
- Career Highlights: Frieden was cruising toward a silver medal in snowboardcross at the 2006 Turin Games when American Lindsey Jacobellis - the
only rider in front of her - crashed while doing a trick at the end of one of the final jumps. The now-famous snafu gave Frieden
the gold, which she’ll have to defend against a hungrier Jacobellis in Vancouver. Her other opponents will be a talented field
(including countrywomen Sandra Frei and Mellie Francon) and her age, as she’s older than most of the other top contenders.
Her results have been slipping lately; the most recent of her 10 podium finishes at World Cup events came in February 2008,
and she finished outside the top 10 in three events last winter. But a fourth-place showing to open the 2009-10 season in
Chapelco, Argentina, served notice that Frieden could still be a factor at Cypress Mountain.
