as a 22-year-old in Athens in 2004 by clearing 1.96 meters and earned bronze with a jump of 2.03 meters in Beijing in 2008.
She didn't compete in 2010 because of pregnancy, but the time off didn't seem to have any impact on her performance. In fact,
she returned stronger in 2011, setting a Russian national record by clearing 2.07 meters, the third-best jump in history.
She then won her first gold at the world championships in 2011 with a jump of 2.03 meters after runner-up finishes in 2007
