She took floor gold at the Cottbus World Cup this year, reaffirming her status as a legitimate Olympic medal threat. In addition, Chelaru placed fifth overall in the prestigious American Cup in March. Known for her steadiness and consistency, Chelaru is the fifth-ranked all-around gymnast in the world. In addition to her expertise on the mat, she showed off her broad range of skills by taking a bronze in vault at the 2011 Paris World Cup - an event which was highlighted by her silver in floor.
