Career Highlights: Penezic is one of the top left backs in the world, earning top honors at her position at the 2011 world championships. She
helped the Croats finish in seventh place, with losses only to powerhouses Norway and Denmark. Penezic excelled with 37 goals
to finish in the top 10 at the 2008 European championships as Croatia earned a sixth-place finish. A ninth-place finish at
the 2010 Euros featured 31 goals from Penezic to again place her within the tournament’s top 10. Named best Croatian handball
player in 2008 and 2009, Penezic excelled for domestic clubs Lokomotiva Zagreb and HC Podravka Vegeta, leading the latter
club in scoring in EHF Champions League play in 2008-09 and 2009-10. She moved on to Slovenian club Krim Mercator and upped
her EHF Champions League goal total to a career-best 61. Penezic will make her Olympic debut after she and Croatia were forced
to gain one of the final berths in qualifying in May.
