Career Highlights: Despite a disappointing seventh-place finish at the 2011 world championships, Aliyev is a strong contender for a medal in London. He won both the European championships and the world championships in 2010, capping off a big year. He also won two Golden Grand Prix events and followed that up with another Golden Grand Prix title in 2011. Aliyev won the European junior title in 2008 and 2009 and added a world junior title in 2009.
