Games. Mammadov won his first medal at the European championships in 2011, defeating fellow Olympian Tervel Pulev 15-7 in
the final. He was unstoppable for most of the 2011 world championships, winning his first four bouts by a combined score of
75-38. Mammadov finally lost in the final to the more experienced Oleksandr Usyk, the bronze medalist at the 2009 worlds.
The tall southpaw is an extremely gifted fighter who uses his size and length efficiently, with many combination punches that
are highly effective. He recently signed with the Azeri based World Series of Boxing franchise, the Baku Fire, much to the
delight of the hometown fans.
