Career Highlights: Velikov is a two-time Olympian who won the bronze medal at the 2008 games in Beijing. He placed ninth in 2004 in Athens. He won a silver medal at the 2011 world championships, losing to Viktor Lebedev in the final. Velikov was world champion in 2006, and won another silver at the 2005 world championships. He has never won the European championships, but has earned five medals there - three silver and two bronze. Velikov won bronze at the most recent European championships in March.
