Career Highlights: Representing his home country, Lu was a gold medal winner at the 2008 Beijing Games. Then just 22 years old, Lu hoisted a
total of 394 kilograms to beat Belarus’ Andrei Rybakou - a two-time world champion and silver medalist at the 2004 Athens
Games. After winning a silver medal at the 2005 World Weightlifting Championships, he suffered an injury at the event in 2007
and didn’t win a medal again at the worlds until taking gold in 2009. He followed that by winning gold at the Asian Games
in 2010. In April, Lu won two gold medals at China’s national championships.
