Jingyu Wu
Sport: Taekwondo
Nation: People's Republic of China
DOB: February 1, 1987
Career Highlights: Ranked No. 1 in the world in the 49 kg weight class coming into the summer, Wu heads to London as a heavy favorite to bring
home another Olympic gold medal. Wu, who's won 47 of 54 registered fights over the course of her career, dismantled her competition
at the Beijing Games, including an impressive one-sided victory over Thailand's Buttree Puedpong in the championship match.
Wu's impressive resume also includes first-place finishes at the 2007 and '11 world championships, and a bronze at the 2009
worlds. In addition, Wu is a two-time Asian championships gold medalist, most recently winning the event in May. She also
took gold at the German Open in April. While it's unlikely that Wu comes home empty handed, she could face stiff competition
from rival Yang Shu-Chun of Taiwan.
