Sui Lu
Sport: Gymnastics
Nation: People's Republic of China
DOB: April 1, 1992
Career Highlights: Sui was the 2011 world champion on balance beam - defeating teammate Yao Jinnan and all-around world champ Jordyn Wieber of
the United States - and added a silver medal on floor exercise and a bronze in team competition at that meet in a breakout
performance. She won gold in all-around, balance beam floor and the team event at the 2010 Asian Games. Sui also earn world
championship bronzes in 2010 (team) and ’09 (floor). She has rebounded from her disappointment of 2008, when inconsistent
performances caused her to be left off the Chinese team and made her ponder retirement. Sui claims that her work in controlling
her emotions and overcoming jitters has helped her manage that inconsistency. A specialist on beam and floor, she’s considered
another threat to medal from the powerful Chinese team.
