Leandro Guilheiro
Sport: Judo
Nation: Brazil
DOB: August 7, 1983
Career Highlights: One of the more experienced judoka competing at the 2012 Games, Guilheiro heads to London looking to become the first Brazilian
to take home the gold since Rogerio Sampaio (-65 kg) in 1992. Ranked No. 2 in the world in the -81 kg weight division behind
South Korea's Jae-Bum Kim, Guilheiro first garnered attention with a first-place finish at the 2002 junior world champions
at the age of 19. Guilheiro has since added plenty to his resume, winning bronze in the -73 weight class at both the 2004
and 2008 games to become the only Brazilian judoka to medal in consecutive Olympics. He's also won a silver and bronze at
the 2010 and 2011 world championships, respectively, and is a three-time Pan American champion - most recently winning the
event in April. While Guilheiro will certainly be one of the favorites to win the half middleweight division, he surely isn't
looking forward to a possible matchup with Kim - Guilheiro has lost all three career matches against him.
