Career Highlights: Taekwondo athlete Jade Jones, 19, is an outsider for a medal at the London Games. Encouraged to take up the sport from the
age of eight, Jones was highly successful at youth level, winning silver at the World Junior Championships in 2010 and gold
at the Youth Olympics in the same year, with both medals coming in the 55kg weight category. A bronze at the 2010 European
Championships at bantamweight hinted at a bright senior career, and a shift to featherweight saw Jones pick up a silver at
the 2011 Worlds in Gyeongju. Another gold at the 2011 US Open in Austin ensured that she will be considered a major threat
for a medal at her first Olympic Games, with the youngster likely to enter at featherweight. However, world champion Hou Yuzhuo
of China and South Korea’s Lim Su-Jeong will provide stiff competition.
