Richard Faulds
Sport: Shooting
Nation: Great Britain
DOB: March 16, 1977
Hometown: Andover
Career Highlights: English shooter Richard Faulds will be competing in his fifth Olympics at the London 2012 Games. An Olympic Gold in the Double
Trap at Sydney is the standout highlight in Faulds’ successful career. A World Junior champion at the age of 16, Faulds finished
fifth at his first Olympics in Atlanta in 1996 and picked up his first major title at the European Championships a year later.
He qualified for the 2000 Olympics with a world record score, and set an Olympic record en-route to his gold medal in Sydney.
Disappointingly 13th and 6th in the last two Games, Faulds has a point to prove at London 2012. A five-time English Open and
two time British Open winner, he has 13 major world event wins to his name – ensuring his status as one of the elite members
of the field in London. Competition will be strong, while 2004 Olympic champion Ahmed Al Maktoum will be looking to make
up for his disappointing display in Beijing.
