Career Highlights: Kolbowicz, who started rowing in 1986, will likely make his final Olympic appearance in London after helping Poland finish
fourth in the quadruple sculls at the 2011 world championships in Slovenia. He helped the Polish team win gold in that event
in Beijing for his first Olympic medal. The married father of two is a four-time world championship gold medalist in that
event (2005-’07, ’09), while also earning silver in 2002 and bronze in 2003. Kolbowicz, on the world rowing male crew of the
year in 2006 as part of the Polish men’s quadruple sculls, also won a bronze in double sculls at the 1998 worlds. He was inducted
into the Polish Sports Hall of Fame in 2011 and was elected as alderman/councilor to the city council in Szczecin.
