Career Highlights: The 2011 IHF world player of the year, Hansen was sensational in leading Denmark to the 2012 European championship title with
nine goals in a 21-19 victory over host nation Serbia in the final. He was named to the all-tournament team as the best left
back after finishing third in the event with 45 goals. Hansen’s strong performance at the Euros followed his spectacular showing
at the 2011 world championships. He led Denmark to the silver medal and scored a tournament-high 68 goals. Hansen also played
a lesser role on Denmark’s 2008 European championship-winning team. Blessed with tremendous handballing genes, Hansen is a
second-generation Olympian with father Flemming having participated in the 1984 Los Angeles Games. He played professionally
for FC Barcelona before moving back to his native country to suit up for current club AG Kobenhavn.
