Career Highlights: Experienced rower Richard Egington is set for a place in Great Britain’s men’s four at London 2012. An international rower
since 2003, Egington was part of the men’s eight that breezed into the final in Beijing before picking up a silver medal in
a close finish with Canada and the USA. After Beijing he considered quitting the sport, but found a place in the flagship
men’s four and went on to win gold at the 2009 World Championships in Poznan. Alongside Matthew Langridge, Alex Gregory and
Tom James, he won gold in the 2011 World Cup series in both Munich and Lucerne and beat Greece and Australia to gold at the
2011 World Championships in Slovenia. GB are amongst the favourites for gold at London will face strong competition from Australia,
France and New Zealand if they are to claim gold in Dorney.
