Career Highlights: Olympic silver medallist Matthew Langridge is set for a place in Great Britain men’s four at London 2012. Langridge enjoyed a successful junior career, becoming the first British junior to win gold in the single sculls at the World Rowing Championships in 2001, and later that year went on to break the under-18 British record for the 2,000m. World Championship bronze in the pairs and World Cup gold in the eight in 2007 saw him earn a place in Beijing, picking up a silver medal in the eight in a close finish with Canada and the USA. Selected in the four for the 2009 season, Langridge and his team won that year’s World Series and beat favourites Australia to gold at the World Championships in Poznan. Alongside Alex Gregory, Richard Egington and Tom James, he won gold in the 2011 World Cup series in both Munich and Lucerne and beat Greece and Australia to gold at the 2011 World Championships in Slovenia. GB are amongst the favourites for gold at London, but will face strong competition from Australia, France and New Zealand if they are to triumph Dorney.
