Darko Stanic
Sport: Handball
Nation: Serbia
DOB: October 8, 1978
Career Highlights: Stanic made his mark when he was named best goalkeeper at the 2012 European championships to help host Serbia finish a surprising
second, losing to Denmark in the title game. It was the first handball medal for Serbia as an independent nation, and the
team has since become a sensation within the country. He currently plays for RK Metalurg Skopje in Macedonia, and is one of
that nation’s highest-paid athletes. He has led Skopje to four Super League titles and three Cup titles. Stanic made some

Olympic handball debut. Stanic previously played for clubs in Slovenia and Switzerland and, despite being close to the twilight
of his career, is playing some of his best handball as he gets ready for London.
