Drew Ginn
Sport: Rowing
Nation: Australia
DOB: November 20, 1974
Hometown: Richmond
Career Highlights: Ginn will make his fourth Olympic appearance after helping Australia finish third in coxless fours at the 2011 world championships.
Ginn will compete in that event this summer despite winning gold in the coxless pair with James Tomkins at the 2004 Games
and with Duncan Free four years later. Ginn’s decision to return to coxless fours is based largely on wanting to help his
country win its first gold in that event since he was part of the Oarsome Foursome team with Mike McKay, James Tomkins, and
Nicholas Green in 1996. Ginn, a four-time world championship gold medalist in the coxless pairs, missed the 2000 Olympics
with a prolapsed disc and had back surgery following the 2008 Games. He took some time away from rowing after Beijing, winning
the time trial at the 2009 Oceania Road Cycling championships. His goal since returning to the sport in February 2011 is a
fourth Olympic gold.
