Sonja Pfeilschifter
Sport: Shooting
Nation: Germany
DOB: January 29, 1971
Hometown: Ismaning
Career Highlights: Pfeilschifter has won all kinds of titles in more than two decades of competition, but she doesn't have an Olympic medal.
The German rifle shooter will try to end that drought during her fifth appearance in the Games, and this could be the Olympics
where Pfeilschifter adds that missing piece to her resume. She recorded one of her 28 career World Cup wins in April at the
Royal Artillery Barracks, the shooting venue for the London Games. Pfeilschifter also won gold at the 2010 World Cup finals
in the 10-meter air rifle and took second in the 50-meter, three positions at the 2010 world championships. She’s won four
world titles - including one as a junior competitor in 1991 - six gold medals at the World Cup finals and 10 European titles.
In the Olympics, though, she’s never finished higher than fourth in eight shooting competitions. Pfeilschifter recorded that
fourth-place finish in 2000 in the three positions. She came in 17th in that event in Beijing and 12th in the 10-meter air
rifle. Pfeilschifter owns the world record score in three positions at 698 and has tallied a perfect 400 in the 10 meters
three times.
