Emma Moffatt
Sport: Triathlon
Nation: Australia
DOB: September 7, 1984
Career Highlights: Competing in her second straight Summer Games, Moffatt joins Great Britain's Helen Jenkins and New Zealand's Andrea Hewitt
as the favorites to win gold in London now that reigning Olympic silver medalist Vanessa Fernandes will not be competing.
Moffatt won bronze in Beijing behind Australian teammate Emma Snowsill and Fernandes. She earned overall gold medals at the
ITU triathlon world championships in 2009 and 2010. A former Australian triathlete of the year, Moffatt struggled with a lack
of confidence after her performance in Beijing and entertained ideas of quiting the sport. However, after training with Snowsill
and fellow Australian triathlon legend Craig Walton, she was revitalized. Though Moffatt focused on running cross-country
as a child, she was destined to become a triathlete, following in the footsteps of her parents and three siblings.
