Linnea Torstenson
Sport: Handball
Nation: Sweden
DOB: March 30, 1983
Career Highlights: Torstenson will try to lead Sweden to success in London after the team only managed an eighth-place finish at the Beijing
Games. Despite their 2008 final standing on the Olympic stage, there are reasons to believe the Swedes can improve after coming
in second - behind Norway - at the 2010 European championships. Torstenson was named most valuable player as she finished
second in that tournament with 48 goals to lead the Swedes to their first medal at the Euros. It was a different story at
the 2011 world championships, where Sweden was knocked out by France in the round of 16, but Torstenson had an amazing 10
goals in a group-stage loss to Croatia. The first Swedish back-to-back national player of the year, Torstenson has been with
the national team since 2006. She began her club career domestically with IFK Strangnas and also played in Sweden for Skovde
HF before joining Danish sides Aalborg DH and FC Midtjylland, which she helped win its first domestic title in 13 years in
2011.
