Career Highlights: After being surprisingly disqualified in the round of 16 at the world qualification tournament one year ago, Gonzalez went on to punch his ticket to London with a second-place finish at European qualifying in January. Despite that silver medal, Gonzalez is ranked No. 1 in the world in the 58 kg weight class coming into the summer and heads to these Games as the favorite to stand atop the podium in his division. He comes off a pair of first-place finishes - taking gold at the Spanish Open before winning his second European championship in May. Gonzalez, who's won 49 of 56 registered fights over the course of his career, is also a two-time world champion, winning the flyweight division in both 2009 and '11.
