Im Dong-Hyun
Sport: Archery
Nation: South Korea
DOB: May 12, 1986
Career Highlights: Despite being legally blind in one eye, Im has been a successful member of South Korea’s renowned team for nearly a decade.
Already having played a part in two gold medal-winning teams, he'll now try to become the first Korean man to finish first
in the individual competition. Im's vision is listed as 20/200 for his left eye, the threshold for legal blindness, and 20/100
for his right. From 70 meters away, he has said he can only see the colors of the target, but that hasn't stopped him from
experiencing a bevy of success. Im has finished in the top 10 in each of the past two Olympics, sixth in Athens and ninth
in Beijing. He was also the 2007 world champion and finished second in 2009 and 2003, when he was 17 years old. Im has also
set four scoring records with the latest (696 points) at a World Cup event in May. That broke his previous mark of 693 set
in October at the Lord's Cricket Ground, the venue for the upcoming Olympics.
