Alexandre Pato
Sport: Soccer
Nation: Brazil
DOB: September 2, 1989
Hometown: Pato Branco
Career Highlights: One of the best young forwards in the world, Pato is already greatly accomplished and plays for one of the biggest clubs in
the world in Milan. He burst onto the international scene with three goals at the 2007 FIFA Under-20 World Cup, scoring twice
against South Korea in the group stage before finding the net again versus Spain in a Round of 16 defeat. Those performances,
combined with his success at Internacional in Brazil, were enough for Milan to pay a hefty price to acquire him. Pato lived
up to the lofty expectations immediately, scoring nine goals in 18 games in his first season in Serie A. Overall, he has 61
goals in five seasons at Milan, helping the team to a Serie A title (Scudetto) in 2010-11. Recently, Pato has been hampered
by leg injuries, which limited him to one goal in 11 games last season. Those issues have fanned speculation that he may be
sold during the offseason, and he would be expected to command an exorbitant transfer fee. He was left off Brazil’s 2010 World
Cup roster by then-manager Dunga, but had one goal at the Beijing Games two years earlier. Pato’s exploits off the field have
also made headlines, as he’s currently in a relationship with Barbara Berlusconi, the daughter of former Italian Prime Minister
Silvio Berlusconi, AC Milan's owner and president.
