Adrian AdrianSport: Soccer

Nation: Spain

DOB: January 8, 1988

Career Highlights: Another of Spain's rising offensive stars, Adrian's ability has been on display for various youth national teams since coming through Real Oviedo's system. His balance and playmaking ability have been key to Spain's success, and he's finally showing that ability at the club level. He had five goals at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup before Spain was upset by the Czech Republic on penalties in the quarterfinals. But his real breakthrough came in tallying five goals to lead the 2011 European U-21 Championships, as Spain won the title that is considered the precursor to the Olympics. While he's been a star with Spain, Adrian's club career has been inconsistent. A move to Deportivo La Coruna in 2006 featured a pair of loan spells to other teams in order for him to get more playing time. He finally got a regular opportunity in La Liga after joining Atletico Madrid last summer, scoring seven goals in 36 league games. In 17 other Europa League contests, he added 10 more goals, helping Atletico to the tournament title.
