Career Highlights: Heemskerk won a gold medal for the Netherlands at the 2008 Olympics as a member of the 4x100 meter freestyle relay team. She
struggled in the 200 individual medley at those Games, however, finishing 28th during the heats. Later that year, Heemskerk
won silver in the 200 free at the short course world championships and finished fifth in the 100 medley. She captured another
gold at the 2011 worlds as part of the 4x100 free relay team. The Dutch team, with her starring, holds the world record on
4x100 free relay long course, as well as the 4x200 free relay short course.
