Iztok Cop
Sport: Rowing
Nation: Slovenia
DOB: June 17, 1972
Hometown: Radovljica
Career Highlights: Cop will be 40 years old when he makes his sixth and final Olympic appearance this summer. The Slovenian has enjoyed a decorated
career that started when he was just 13. As a 20-year-old at the 1992 Games, Cop teamed with Denis Žvegelj to win bronze in
the coxless pair - the first Olympic medal for Slovenia since gaining its independence. Cop just missed out on the medal stand
at the 1996 Games, finishing fourth in the single sculls, but won gold in double sculls in 2000 with Luka Špik - Slovenia’s
first gold medal as an independent nation. Four years later in Athens, he finished fourth. Cop, who spends as much time as
possible on cross-country skis during winter training, will have no shortage of motivation going for gold in London. Not only
will it be his final Olympics, but he's looking for redemption after he said “everything went wrong” in Beijing when he and
Špik finished sixth in double sculls.
