Primoz Kozmus

Primoz KozmusSport: Track and Field

Nation: Slovenia

DOB: September 30, 1979

Career Highlights: Kozmus has come a long way since finishing 36th in the hammer throw at the Sydney Games a dozen years ago in his first taste of big-time international competition. He didn't wind up making it to the medal stand until the 2007 World Championships, winning silver after a sixth-place finish at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, but that performance proved to be a harbinger of things to come. Kozmus improved to gold in Beijing in 2008, continuing the string of success one year later with first-place finishes in the Worlds and World Athletics Final. Deciding he'd reached his athletic peak, Kozmus abruptly retired after the 2009 season, but he returned after just a year away and, after some initial rust, is back on top. Kozmus says his goal is to win another Olympic gold in London by throwing over 83 meters - his personal best is 82.58. Considering his pedigree, there's little reason to believe he can't.
