Career Highlights: Not long after missing out on winning a championship in his first trip to the NBA finals, Westbrook has another chance to take home some hardware as he heads to the Games for the first time. The former UCLA star teamed with fellow U.S. Olympian Kevin Durant to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder on an impressive playoff run which ended with a five-game finals loss to the Miami Heat. While Westbrook has sometimes been criticized for shot selection and carelessness with the basketball, there is no denying his extreme talent. His electric quickness was on full display in Game 4 against the Heat as he scored 43 points to singlehandedly keep the Thunder within striking distance in what ultimately turned out to be a losing effort. His star is still on the rise - he's only been in the NBA four seasons - but he's already considered one of the game's top scorers and point guards. His only experience in meaningful international competition came at the 2010 world championships, where he ranked third on the U.S. with 9.1 points and 2.6 assists per game en route to the gold. Westbrook was relied upon more as the tournament wore on, averaging 12.3 points in the final three games, and played the most minutes of any reserve. An All-NBA second teamer the past two years, Westbrook has raised his scoring average every season, ranking fifth in the league at 23.6 points per game in 2011-12. Though a capable outside shooter with 3-point range, Westbrook is at his best when using his terrific athleticism to drive the lane for easy baskets. A solid defender whose biggest weakness may be poor decision-making, Westbrook's 1.7 steals per game ranked among the league leaders this season, but so did his average of 3.6 turnovers.
