Craig Kinsley
Sport: Track and Field
Nation: United States of America
DOB: January 19, 1989
Hometown: Fairfield, CT
Career Highlights: Kinsley might be one of the more lesser-known athletes at the Games, but if his personal website is any indication, he's also
one of the most determined. "I am going for broke this year, putting everything I have into the javelin," reads the site's
front page. "I am living in the cheapest possible apartment I could find that is still within a short walk/bike ride of the
athletic facilities. Cheap rent allows me to buy quality food to fuel my body. ... There is nothing in the world that I want
more than to test myself against the best in the world at the Olympic Games. I am confident that I can compete well at the
Trials and get on the podium in London." He's already accomplished the first part of that goal, finishing third at the trials
but earning the top U.S. qualifying spot because the top two hadn't met the sport's required "A" standard. Completing his
dream won't be easy, however. No American male has finished higher than eighth in the javelin since 1992, though the Brown
graduate certainly seems eager to end that drought.
