freestyle relay. Just one year later at the Athens Games, she won gold in the 4x100 freestyle relay and bronze in the 50m
freestyle, highlighting a season that also saw her take two golds, two silvers and two bronze at the short course worlds.
Trickett's performance peaked at the Beijing Games, where she captured gold in the 100m butterfly and 4x100 medley relay,
silver in the 100m freestyle and bronze in the 4x100m freestyle relay. In addition to her Olympic haul, Trickett has five
gold and two sliver medals from the 2006 Commonwealth Games and eight gold, three silver and four bronze from four worlds.
In September of 2009, Trickett announced she would take an extended break from swimming and was considering retirement, but,
one year later, announced she would return to competition.
