Tobin Heath

Tobin HeathSport: Soccer

Nation: United States of America

DOB: May 29, 1988

Hometown: Basking Ridge, NJ

Career Highlights: A dazzling and skillful midfielder, Heath has the ability to play either side of midfield, giving the U.S. some offensive versatility. Despite her age, Heath has amassed a wealth of experience since breaking into the U.S. team while still in college. She made her debut against Finland on Jan. 18, 2008, and went on to make the roster for the Beijing Games. At 20, she was the youngest member of the team that went on to win the gold medal. Heath's rise to the national team came after finding success with various youth teams, and only an illness and broken ankle in 2010 seemed to slow her down. She rebounded with a strong 2011 and earned a spot on the World Cup team. Heath was one of three players to miss a penalty kick as the U.S. fell to Japan in the final. She helped the U.S. return to the Olympics by scoring twice in CONCACAF qualifying, as the team cruised through five games by outscoring opponents 38-0. Heath is accustomed to winning, as she led North Carolina to national titles in 2006, '08 and '09.
