Career Highlights: Rodriguez returns to the Olympics after helping the U.S. to the gold medal in Beijing four years ago. She was included in the team after an injury to Abby Wambach. Rodriguez tied the team's single-game scoring record by getting five goals in a 14-0 win over the Dominican Republic during CONCACAF Olympic qualifying earlier this year. She's the sixth player in U.S. history to accomplish the feat. Despite being a crafty and clever scorer, Rodriguez struggled at last summer's World Cup, failing to find the back of the net in five games. She's rebounded in 2012, getting seven goals and four assists in 12 games, and maintaining that level could be important if the U.S. is going to win a third gold medal. Rodriguez is known for her tremendous speed and ability to run past opponents to get on the end of through balls. That enables her to play deeper on the field or to run at defenders from wide positions, but she tends to be a target for physical play. Rodriguez, who starred for the U.S. at various youth levels, was a standout at Southern California, finishing her career with 31 goals and leading the Trojans to the 2007 national title as a junior.
