Career Highlights: The two-time U.S. champion in vault and 2011 national champ in floor - his two specialties - will try to add Olympic golds in both. Dalton, the reigning NCAA champion, easily won those events at the U.S. trials and also captured gold in both at the Pacific Rim Championships this year. He helped the United States to the all-around bronze medal at the 2011 world championships, and he earned bronze in the individual all-around at the 2011 American Cup after being told the morning of the event that he would be competing. Despite that strong result, Dalton is likely a longshot to capture the all-around title in London, and his best chance for a medal will probably be in vault or floor. Dalton's strength and explosiveness are the keys to his proficiency in those events, with U.S. alternate Chris Brooks jokingly saying he was "disgusted" watching his teammate's powerful tumbling runs during the trials. Though pommel horse and rings are weaker events for Dalton, he's complemented by teammates who are strong on those apparatus, creating a well-rounded squad that's looking to put the U.S. men on the top of the podium for the first time since 1984. Dalton became a gymnast after attending baseball camp at age 6, with his coach suggesting he try gymnastics to strengthen his pitching arm. Like current U.S. teammate Jonathan Horton, Dalton attends the University of Oklahoma.
