Francena McCorory
Sport: Track and Field
Nation: United States of America
DOB: October 20, 1988
Hometown: Hampton, VA
Career Highlights: McCorory will look to contend for a medal in the 400 in her first Olympic appearance. She first showed her vast potential
in 2010, establishing the American indoor 400 record at 50.54 seconds. The time beat Diane Dixon's 19-year-old record of 50.64
and also surpassed Natasha Hastings' collegiate record of 50.80 from 2007. The record run won McCorory her second straight
NCAA title while at Hampton University, but it wasn't the only record-breaking run of her career. She shattered Sanya Richards'
time at the Nike Indoor Nationals while in high school, leading to many high Division-I offers. She turned them down to stay
close to home at Hampton. McCorory is a two-time USA outdoor runner-up and was part of the 2011 world outdoor 4x400 relay
team that took home the gold. McCorory has eight siblings and plans to become a mortician and own several funeral homes.
