Alex Morgan
Sport: Soccer
Nation: United States of America
DOB: July 2, 1989
Hometown: Diamond Bar, CA
Career Highlights: A rising superstar and one of the most popular players in the world, Morgan is on the verge of becoming one of the few transcendent
soccer stars in the United States. Her national appeal increased greatly after she posed in Sports Illustrated's swim suit
issue wearing body paint earlier this year. That came after she had two goals at last summer's World Cup, scoring in the final
against Japan before the U.S. eventually fell on penalty kicks. She also found the back of the net in a 3-1 win over France
in the semifinals and was the youngest member of the team at the World Cup. Morgan has a major knack for finding the net,
scoring 22 times in 38 games on the national team while putting together five multigoal games. She helped the U.S. return
to the Olympics by scoring four times as the team went unbeaten in five games during CONCACAF qualifying while outscoring
opponents 38-0. Morgan is well positioned to become the face of the national team at the London Games, as her speed, scoring
ability and dazzling offensive play combined with her youthfulness are considered to be widely popular. On the field, Morgan
can be used in tandem with fellow forward Abby Wambach or on the wing.
