Career Highlights: Nichols is one of the top defensive players in the world. She attended Old Dominion and was the Colonial Athletic Association player of the year in 2006. The following year, Nichols was named to the U.S. national team and was also part of the squad for the Beijing Games in 2008. She has spent time as an assistant to the women's field hockey program at Iowa and will return to the Olympics after being a part of the gold medal-winning team at the 2011 Pan American Games. She recently underwent LASIK eye surgery in hopes of improving her on-field vision.
