Erik Kynard
Sport: Track and Field
Nation: United States of America
DOB: February 3, 1991
Hometown: Manhattan, KS
Career Highlights: Kynard hasn't done much but dominate in the high jump over the past four years, becoming at age 17 one of just a handful of
high schoolers to qualify for the U.S. Olympic trials. His second experience in Oregon was even better. After winning the
2009 Nike outdoor and indoor championships as a high school senior in Ohio, Kynard went to Kansas State and won the event
at the 2011 and 2012 NCAA outdoor championships heading into his second chance at the Olympic trials. He finished second this
time in Eugene, behind 35-year-old Jamie Nieto but ahead of Jesse Williams, the reigning world champion in the high jump.
If Kynard can compete with the likes of Williams, there's little doubt he can wind up on the medal stand in London. With his
track record, it'd be hard to bet against him.
