Career Highlights: Lawrence decided to take a year off from the swim team at Auburn University to focus on qualifying for the Olympics, and the decision paid off. She'll make her first appearance at the Games in the 200 breaststroke, securing her spot in the event by finishing second behind Rebecca Soni at the U.S. trials last month. The performance may have come as a surprise as Lawrence finished 21st in the event at the NCAA championships in 2011. A two-time All-American at Auburn, she attempted to qualify for the Beijing Games but placed 36th in the 100 breaststroke and 14th in the 200. She plans to rejoin the Tigers following the Olympics.
