Career Highlights: Despite nagging wrist and back injuries, Long earned the final spot on the U.S. Olympic BMX team via a discretionary pick. He ranks third in points nationally, behind fellow Olympians David Herman and Connor Fields. The 2010 BMX national champion, Long burst onto the international scene that same season by beating reigning Olympic gold medalist Maris Strombergs to win his first World Cup event. Known for his tattooed-covered body, Long finished second at the 2011 Pan American Games. He turned pro in 2009 and went on to win the ABA Rookie Pro of the Year award. He followed in his father’s footsteps, who also rides and felt his children would benefit more from individual sports like bike racing rather than team sports.
