Career Highlights: Though she's the tallest player on the U.S. women's hoops team and was its top scorer and rebounder at the 2008 Games, Fowles might not even get a regular starting spot in London. She came off the bench in Beijing to average 13.4 points and 8.4 boards - even though she was tied for fifth in minutes played - as Team USA went 8-0 to win gold. Fowles was in the starting lineup for just three of nine games as the U.S. won the 2010 world championships; fellow 2012 Olympian Tina Charles started the other six at center. But again, Fowles flourished in a reserve role as she averaged 10.3 points and 5.2 rebounds - compared to 6.0 and 2.7, respectively, as a starter. She's started every game for the Chicago Sky over the past two WNBA seasons and ended 2011 as the second player in league history to average at least 20 points and 10 boards. Fowles also led the league in blocks (2.0 per game) and field-goal shooting (59.1 percent). The former LSU star has increased her scoring and rebounding averages in each of her four WNBA seasons while improving at both ends of the floor. Fowles is the reigning WNBA defensive player of the year and was named all-defensive first team for a second straight season. Though she has never led the Sky to the playoffs, Fowles has helped her Turkish team to a pair of EuroLeague titles during the WNBA offseason.
