Career Highlights: After serving as an alternate for the Beijing Games, Furrer secured her first trip to the Olympics in June by rallying past U.S. teammate Sarah Scherer in the trials. The rifle shooter is set to compete in the 50-meter three positions at the London Games, but it’s not Furrer’s first international competition. At 16 years old, she came in third at the 2007 Pan Am Games. Furrer was a member of the winning and record-setting team at the world junior championships three years later and registered the first of her three straight top-10 finishes at the NCAA championships for Ohio State. She came in ninth in the smallbore rifle at this year’s competition.
