Matt Grevers
Sport: Swimming
Nation: United States of America
DOB: March 26, 1985
Hometown: Lake Forest, IL
Career Highlights: Grevers will try to add to the three medals he won at the Beijing Games when he competes in the 100-meter backstroke and the
4x100 freestyle relay in London. He won the 100 back at the trials in 52.08 seconds, missing Aaron Peirsol's world record
by 14-hundredths of a second. Grevers earned a spot on the 4x100 free relay team with a third-place finish at the trials.
His performance in Omaha was especially satisfying after he failed to qualify for last year's world championships. He won
gold medals by swimming in the preliminary heats of the 4x100 free and 4x100 medley relay in the 2008 Olympics and also earned
a silver medal in the 100 back. He had an impressive showing at the 2011 nationals, winning the 100 and 200 back and finishing
fourth in the 100 free. Grevers won two gold medals at the 2009 worlds, both in relays. His fiance, Annie Chandler, finished
fifth in the 100 breaststroke at the trials and failed to make the Olympic team.
