Career Highlights: Johnson qualified for her third consecutive Summer Games in the K-1 500 as she continues to pursue an elusive medal. London, however, will be the last stop on her long Olympic tour. She advanced to the semifinal races in both 2004 and 2008, and is hoping to follow a pattern of improvement to the podium. “In both races I was the first person in my semi not to make it into the final,” Johnson said. “In Athens, it was by several seconds; in Beijing, it was by several hundredths of a second. So I'm getting closer and I’m going to be working hard to close that gap.” After the Games, she plans to attend the University of California-Davis and pursue a veterinary career.
