Diana Taurasi

Diana TaurasiSport: Basketball

Nation: United States of America

DOB: June 11, 1982

Hometown: Chino, CA

Career Highlights: Arugably the most recognizable name and face in women's basketball, Taurasi has been the WNBA's top scorer each of the past four seasons - as well as in 2006 - and owns a league-record average of 25.3 points. The seven-time all-WNBA first teamer also has made a big name for herself overseas, claiming three EuroLeague scoring titles and four championships. Piling up hardware is a regular occurrence for Taurasi, who led the Phoenix Mercury to titles in 2007 and '09, and won three in a row at the University of Connecticut. The two-time USA Basketball female athlete of the year owns a pair of Olympic gold medals, having averaged 10.9 points as a starter in Beijing and 8.5 off the bench in 2004 as the team's youngest player. That year also saw her get drafted No. 1 overall and win WNBA rookie of the year honors. She won her lone league MVP in 2009 after shooting a career-best 40.9 percent from 3-point range. Firing from long distance remains a huge facet of her game - and may provide the bulk of her points in London - but she remains very versatile offensively. Few players have more national team experience, included among it the 2010 worlds, where she averaged a team-best 12.0 points and hit 14 of 28 from beyond the arc during Team USA's 9-0 run. Taurasi joins U.S. teammates Sue Bird and Swin Cash as the only active players to have won titles in the Olympics, worlds, WNBA and NCAA.
