Margaux Isaksen

Margaux IsaksenSport: Pentathlon

Nation: United States of America

DOB: October 7, 1991

Hometown: Fayetteville, AR

Career Highlights: At just 16 years old, Isaksen was one of the youngest competitors at the Beijing Games. Since then, she's collected a handful of medals in women's modern pentathlon - including a pair of golds in 2011 - which has her optimistic for a spot on the podium this summer. Isaksen finished 21st during her first Olympics, but has been on the upswing ever since. She beat out, among others, reigning gold medalist Lena Schoneborn of Germany for the Champion of Champions title last year and qualified for the London Olympics by finishing first at the Pan Am Games. Isaksen was plagued by mononucleosis for much of this year but appears fit after coming in fifth at June's Kremlin Cup. She's looking to become just the second U.S. woman to medal in the modern pentathlon, joining Emily deRiel (2000). Such a feat would culminate a resume that began with a sweep of U.S. youth, junior and senior titles in 2007. She's won two more U.S. championships at the senior level since. Isaksen also won a gold at the NORCECA championships in 2009, finished second at a World Cup event in 2010 and earned another silver at the Pan American championships later that year.
