Brittany Viola
Sport: Diving
Nation: United States of America
DOB: April 19, 1987
Hometown: Orlando, FL
Career Highlights: A member of the national team for a decade, Viola enters her first Olympics as the United States' best hope for a medal in
the female platform competition. Viola missed the 2010 season while recovering from two foot surgeries but has come back better
than ever, establishing herself as clearly the nation's top female platform diver by taking first place at last year's Winter
championships and AT&T National Championships, and also at June's Olympic trials. Internationally, she finished second at
the 2009 USA Diving Grand Prix, and sixth in the same event earlier this year. Viola is the daughter of former major league
pitcher Frank Viola, who won the 1987 World Series and 1988 AL Cy Young Award with the Minnesota Twins. Brittany Viola competed
internationally in gymnastics as a child, but switched to diving at age 13 because she didn't want to move away from her family
to train.
