Sport: Archery
Nation: United States of America
DOB: May 18, 1993
Hometown: Des Moines, IA
Career Highlights: At 19 years old, Leek is the youngest member of the United States archery team, and she’ll try to become the first American
woman to earn an individual medal in the sport since Luann Ryon's gold in 1976. Leek had some strong showings at international
competitions this year, finishing second at the world indoor championships in February and winning the Arizona Cup one month
later. She also helped the United States women’s team qualify for the Olympics in June after it missed out on a chance to
compete in Beijing four years ago. Leek made the senior national team for the first time in 2011, came in second at the Pan
Am Games and finished ninth at the world championships. She also earned a mixed team gold medal with Brady Ellison at a World
Cup event in Ogden, Utah, and was a member of the silver medal-winning women's team at another stop in Turkey. With help from
her father, Leek started in the sport when she was 5 years old, switching from a compound bow to a recurve at 12.
